THE SLIDE


He sat in the room, long table, chairs, no window. What was he here for? The room was silent, empty, withdrawn. He heard the slide from safe to...another place altogether. The slide gathered momentum, flowers and pungent smells burst into the room. He was never alone, he always knew that...but now, the slide told him so much more. The slide gave him the mounting level of a kaleidoscope. There was darkness within the light, darkness within the exaltation of flowers and scent, darkness straddled and straddled the room...suffocation spread along the vines, spread along the tables and chairs, caressed his hands, his feet, his hair...
